There are many things that a person can do to feel better but that depends on who you are, your personality, your age and what makes you feel good. For instance, I love to laugh so when I am feeling down, I will watch a few comedy movies or old sitcoms that remind me when I was younger. Sometimes, I will look through old photo albums or sift through my memory box. I instantly get a rush of old memories of times that were good and it helps take my mind off of the negative.
When I am really feeling horrible, I like to eat something sweet. It may not be the best advice but having something sweet in proportion won’t do any harm. A slice of toast with peanut butter on it or a cookie and some warm milk brings back memories of when I was a child. My mother would warm up some milk and put a scoop of honey in it and tell me that heaven was going to have rivers flowing with milk and honey. If I was having a bad dream and woke up, this was mom’s remedy for happiness and a good night sleep and it always worked!

Read a book to escape from your problems
You may want to try reading. Go take out your favorite novel and read it over again or visit a thrift store to find a new set of books to take your mind off of things for awhile. Reading is a great way to take your mind off of things and feel better. Try to make sure that the books you are reading are about peaceful and happy topics to help you feel at ease.

Go window shopping and try on some new clothes
Sometimes playing dress up and trying on clothing can help people feel good. If you have a close friend, try calling them up to do a trip at the local shopping mall to try on some clothes or just play dress up alone at home by yourself and try out some new variations in colour and clothing or put on some new makeup and tell yourself how great you are while looking back at your reflection in the mirror.

Go for a walk
Take a walk around your neighborhood. If you have a pet, take your dog for walk. Bring along your camera and take some pictures of random objects, or walk to a local coffee shop and buy yourself a tasty new drink that you have never ordered before. Exercise is a great way to feel good, walking, cycling, hiking or biking will all quickly boost your adrenaline and you will start feeling better almost instantaneously.

Try Journaling
If you have tried all of the above and it still doesn’t work, you may want to write in your journal. Write about how you are feeling or envision a place that you would like to be right at that moment. What would you be doing? Who would you be with? You could also take out a piece of paper and write down positive things about yourself. These could be the good things that you know to be true about yourself or others may have told you. You can even write down things that you wish someone has told you. This is your time to write down whatever you want that is going to make you feel good.
