How to Be Happy

As humans, we are creatures of habit. So far, you have made a habit of being unhappy or at least letting things get you down. Now is the time to make a new habit of being happy by possessing not only a stronger resolve to do so, but also knowledge about what it takes to stay that way for life.

 Some people abide by a belief that happiness comes from owning a lot of possessions or being popular among peers. This may carry with it some semblance of satisfaction, but true happiness comes from within. A healthy spirit is a key component to genuine happiness; and thus, knowing some foundational notion with help you become a truly happier person. The following are a few tips to help you figure out how to feel happy, and to ensure that it becomes hardwired into your habits and habitat. With these easy considerations made on a daily basis, you will actually reprogram your subconscious behaviour setting you on your way to becoming someone who wears a smile more than a frown.

 Accept your Reality

Acceptance is the first and perhaps most important step towards becoming a happier person. Once you accept your reality, the personal situation in which you live, then you will be better able to work with what you’ve got. Until you learn to accept the inevitable in your life, you will continue to fight against those things, and you will never reach true happiness.

Be Bold; Be Present 

What it means to “be present” is that you must always be mindful of things around you. Accepting inevitable things is one step, but being alert to the changes around you is the next one. Once you are aware, then you will be better capable of being bold as far as your wants and needs. Fulfilling personal needs and desires is the main concern for most people; in order to feel happy, you will need to pay attention to yourself and the world around you.

Ignite the Passion Within 

Through becoming more aware of your surroundings, being present in your personal decision-making, creating, facing your fears, and giving love or support, you should be able to find a spark that ignites the passions within you. Once this is done, it will become easier to find things to be content about. A lot can be said about a person who is passionate, but one thing that is never said is that a passionate person is unhappy.

Face your Fears 

 Never is it a good idea to hide from your fears, unless of course your fears are legitimate (driving without a seat belt, washing your hands to prevent disease, etc.). If you face your fears, then you will have a better chance at finding happiness in your life. You should never have to apologize for your emotions; feel them completely and then move through them to get to the other side of the mountain.

 Jump Out of your Comfort Zone 

Taking a step outside your comfort zone is a good way to find something to be passionate about. If you keep doing the things you have always done, then you will keep getting the things you have always gotten. With that said, you will want to take steps towards trying new things. This does not mean that you have to complete disregard boundaries, but being open to new experiences is never a bad idea.

 Relax, Read, and Reinvent Yourself 

Taking a few moments from your busy schedule to relax and read something interesting; If at all possible, read positive and inspirational stories and books. Use the information to help you reinvent yourself in ways that will make it easier for you to realize your goals.

 Simplify and Sleep 

Having enough time to sleep is of paramount importance to your mental and emotional well being. As a matter of fact, you can die from sleep deprivation sooner than starvation! Because of this, you need to try to simplify your life so that you can get ample amounts of sleep. This of course means that you have to be honest with yourself about the things you do and do not need in your life. If you follow all the previous steps, then this should be relatively easy to do.

Speak with Wisdom

When you speak to someone, make sure that the words you chose to use are wise and well-thought-out. This will prevent you from making any silly mistakes which could lead to troubling or unhappy situations. If you are not sure what to say in a given situation, then chances are you should not say anything at all. Keeping in mind that you are a mirror for the things manifest in your life, talking wisely will only serve to attract wise people.

 Unleash your Power 

Gaining confidence is synonymous with gaining happiness. Once you get to the point where your goals, desires, and needs are noted, then you should be able to unleash your power to make your dreams come true. Whether you play music, run a business, write books, or help the community, living up to your full potential without apology is an easy way to bring back happiness into your life.

 Vent and Visualize 

By venting our problems and concerns, we are more easily able to put things into perspective. On the contrary, if you do not vent your frustrations, then you only stand to reminisce about the negative aspects of the past. Once you have gotten past the irritations, then you should actively visualize your dreams for the future. Moving through your thoughts and visualizations is in line with a New Age belief called “The Law of Attraction.”

 Hug Someone 

The power of touch is something amazing. You would be surprised how much a simple hug could help your mental and emotional well-being. This is especially true if you did not have to ask for it (provided it is someone you are willing to hug). With this in mind, it is important to consider how a friendly and loving hug could help someone else. Indeed, helping someone is another component towards learning how to feel happy.  

Zap Negativity

If you see or hear someone being negative towards you or your actions, especially if it is not warranted, then you should find ways to either ignore it or remove it from your realm. Being around negative people who bring you down is a sure fire way to never reach contentment. Instead, try to surround yourself with positive people and things, and then you will see the difference it makes in your life.

 Remember! To learn the art of staying happy is a choice that you have to make all over again each day when you wake up. If you need to, buy a mirror and practice daily affirmations in private. You do not have to share your unhappiness, uneasiness, and insecurity with the whole world. The only acceptance you really need is the acceptance of yourself.

 From now on, when you wake up in the morning, you need to remind yourself that you are here for a purpose. And being as you are awake, putting your feet on the ground, which means that your purpose has not been fulfilled. With that said, it is important to note that seldom does anything good come from something negative, apathetic, or cruel. Because of this, happiness is an integral part of being purposeful in your deeds. If ever there was a time to start traipsing up the path of righteous happiness it is now. If life is a lesson, then you should take time to learn how to hard wire happiness into your lifestyle and become a happier version of yourself.
